Why should I sign up?

Is your animal on the Ark yet? Ark Animal Space is a place to share the healing message of animals that provide care, comfort and inspiration to people across the globe. Our social platform gives animals a voice! What makes Ark Animal Space unique is that in addition to your member or organization profile, you can also create a sub-profile for each of your animals. We encourage you to stay while; visit the Ark Blogs and enjoy exploring the Ark community!   


How do I sign up?

To create a member profile or organization profile; click the Sign Up button located at the top right of the site header. Once on the sign up page; fill in each field and select Board the Ark. That easy :)  


What is the difference between my Username and Full Name?

Your full name is both your first and last name. This will allow other members to easily find your profile on the Ark. Your username is used as an identifier in your member status updates


What is the difference between a Member and Organization?

Our site has two types of users... a member profile is for any individual person. If you represent a government, profit or non-profit you will want to create an organization profile.









What happens after I select 'Board the Ark' on sign up?

After sign up you will receive an account verification email. If you don't receive an email within minutes, make sure to check your Spam folder. Click on the link within that email to verify your account. You will be redirected back to our homepage where you can login and begin the setup of your profile and the profiles of your animals.

How do I Edit the Information in My Profile?

To change your personal information; select Edit Profile when on My Profile.


Why do I have an Ark Number and What is it used for?

Every member, organization, and animal has a an Ark Number. It can be used as a unique identifier of your place on the Ark as no two users have the same Ark Number. Also, the Ark Number serves functionality in a variety of ways listed below.
  • Assign to Hall of Fame
  • Assign Mother
  • Assign Father
  • Share Ownership of Animals
  • Transfer Ownership of Animal


How do I upload or change my Profile Photo?

To upload or change your profile photo, select "Update Profile Photo" located beneath where your profile photo displays. Once selected you will be directed to the page where photos can be uploaded. You will want to select "Browse..." to choose an image located on your computer. Once you find the image for your profile photo you will want to select "Upload" to upload the image selected. Please note... you can only crop a photo after it's been uploaded.


How do I crop my Profile Photo?

After your profile photo has been uploaded, select select "Update Profile Photo" once again and use the cropping tool located beneath where you uploaded the photo. You will want to click and drag a square below to match how you want your picture cropped. A preview of your cropped picture will appear in the box on the right. When you are happy with the preview, click 'Create your Photo'. This cropped image will be used throughout the site as your Profile Photo.



Messages


How do messages work?

A message is a private way to communicate with others on the Ark community. There must be a mutual follow to private message another member or organization. Which means, you can only send a private message to a member who is following you and you can only receive a private message from members you follow.


How do I access my inbox to compose a new message?

You can access your Inbox in two ways...
  1. Click the Mail icon in the black bar located at the top left of the screen
  2. On your profile, select the "Messages" link located below your profile picture
 Once in your Inbox select "Compose Message" located in the right side navigation.


How do I message someone I'm following?

Once you select Compose Message, you can choose the recipient of your message in the first drop down title "To:" ... please note, only those members or organizations you follow and who follow you will be present in this drop down. 


Who can message me?

Other members or organizations can send you a private message only if they follow you, and you follow them back.



Following & Followers



What is Following?  

Following a member or organization on Ark Animal Space means:
  1. You are subscribing to their Status Posts as a follower.
  2. Their updates will appear in your News Feed.
  3. That member or organization is able to send you private messages.


What are Followers?

Followers are those who receive your Status Posts. If a member or organization follows you:
  1. They'll show up in your Followers list.
  2. They'll see your Status Posts in their News Feed under the Following tab.
  3. You can send them private messages.


Why should I Follow a Member or Organization?

When you Follow other members and organizations you're able to stay connected, interact and share your animal's story with the Ark Community.  


How do I Follow a member?

When on another member's or organization's profile, click the "Follow this Member" link located under their profile picture.  


How do I know who I'm Following?

On your profile page, click the "Following" link to see a list of all the Members and Organizations you Follow. 


Once I start following someone, can I stop?

When on another member's or organization's profile, click the "Stop Following" link located under their profile picture.


How do I get followers? How do I request a Member or Organization Follow me?

You are not able to send a request to another Member or Organization to Follow you. Some users post an @reply to a Member or Organization to get their attention but this is not a great way to gain a follower.

Simply put, the best way to get others to Follow you is to be an active part and engage with Ark Community. You can Follow members and organizations in which you have an interest, interact by posting status updates to the News Feed, following other members or organizations, Chat or Private Messaging, as well as uploading your own photos and commenting on photos of others.

Other members and organizations are able to follow you the same way you follow them. They just click the "Follow this Member" link located under your profile picture.


How do I know who is following me?

On your profile page, click the "Followers" link to see a list of all the Members and Organizations who are Following you. 


Is Following the same as making someone a "Friend" on other social networks?

No. When you Follow someone on Ark Animal Space it is not mutual like two people Friend-ing each other. For example... if a member or organization thinks you're interesting, they can can follow you without your approval or you following them back. 


I don't want a particular person to follow me. What should I do?

If you do not want a member or organization following you, send an email to admin@arkanimalspace.com requesting we block that user. Make sure to include the username, Ark Number and reason why you want that member or user blocked from following your profile.


What are Following Collections?

You can group members and organizations you follow into Following Collections. The title of each Following Collection can be based on how you think of those you Follow in real life such as "Dog People", "Family", "Animal Celebrities" or "Favorites". 


How do I create, edit or delete a following collection?

To create a new Following Collection, click either the "Followers" or "Following" links located under your profile picture. You can create or edit a new Following Collection by selecting "Create New Following Collection" in the right side menu options. Once selected, give your collection a name and select those you follow to that collection by navigating the alphabetical list.    



News Feed



What is the News Feed? 

Every member and organization have access to the News Feed which details; in real-time all activity on Ark Animal Space.

How do I access the News Feed?  

You can access the News Feed in two ways...
  1. Click the News Feed text in the black bar located at the top left of the screen
  2. On your profile, select the "News Feed" link located below your profile picture


What activity can be viewed on the News Feed?

The News Feed is a constantly updating list that contain all activity on Ark Animal Space including the below.
  • Status Posts
  • New Members
  • New Organizations
  • When Animal Profiles are Created
  • Uploaded Photos & Albums
  • Bookmarked Items
  • Updated Profile Photos
  • Much More!


How do I filter the activity in the News Feed?

You can filter the activity that shows in your news feed via the "Tabs" or "Drop Down" located at the top of the News Feed.
Tab Filters
  • All Activity
  • Following - the activity of only those you follow
  • My Status - just your activity
  • Animals - only activity of all animals
Drop Down Filters
  • All Activity
  • Members - all activity of only other members
  • Animals - all activity of only animals
  • Bookmarks - all pages; on or off the Ark that have been bookmarked
  • My Status Feed - only status posts of other members
  • Photo Albums - all activity of only photo albums



My Status Feed



What is My Status Feed?

The My Status Feed is where you let the Ark Community know what's on your mind by posting your Status. You can also view a list of all your Status Posts in the My Status Feed as well. 

Where can I access My Status Feed?

You can access the My Status Feed in two ways...
  1. In the News Feed select the "My Status Feed" option in the Drop Down filter.
  2. On your profile, select the "My Status Feed" link located below your profile picture


Photos



How do I access my own or another users Photo Albums?

To access your own or other users photo albums: 
  1. When on a profile, select the "Photos" link located below your profile picture


How do I create a photo album?

To create a new photo album: 
  1. On your profile, select the "Photos" link located below your profile picture
  2. When on My Photo Albums, select the Create New Photo Album link in the right side menu
  3. Give your new photo album a Title, Description and Tags then select 'Save'
  4. You are then directed to a page where you can upload photos to your new photo album
  5. Once finished uploading photos, select 'Save' to view your Photo Album


How do I add a photo?

It's important to remember that all photos belong to a Photo Album so you must have a photo album created before adding a photo.
  1. When on the 'My Photo Album' page click on the title of a Photo Album to view that album
  2. To add a photo click the "Add Photos to Album" link in the right side menu.


How do edit or delete a photo?

It's important to remember that all photos belong to a Photo Album so you must have a photo album created before editing or deleting a photo.
  1. When on the 'My Photo Album' page click on the title of a Photo Album to view that album
  2. Click on the photo in which you want to edit or delete
  3. Once on the photo, click either the Edit Image or Delete Image link in the right side menu.


How do I add a title or description to my photo album?

You can add a title or description to your photo album one of two ways.
  1. When creating a new photo album you are given the opportunity add a title and description.
  2. When on a photo album already created, select the "Edit Album" link in the right side menu.   


How do I add a title or description to my photo?

1.) Creating a Photo Album

  1. When creating a new photo album, part of the process involves uploading photos to that album
  2. After the upload, you're given the opportunity add a Title and Description to each photo.

2.) Editing a Photo

It's important to remember that all photos belong to a Photo Album so you must have a photo album created before editing a photo.

  1. When on the 'My Photo Album' page click on the title of a Photo Album to view that album
  2. Click on the photo in which you want to edit the title or description
  3. Once viewing the photo, click the Edit Image link in the right side menu.



My Bookmarks



What are My Bookmarks?

The 'My Bookmarks' area is where you create, manage and view you bookmarks. Similar to bookmarks in your browser or social bookmarking sites, a bookmark on Ark Animal Space allows you to share anything found on the web with the Ark community. 


How do I bookmark a page?

You can bookmark a page from Ark Animal Space or any where on the web in on of two ways. To start, when on your profile, select the "My Bookmarks" link located below your profile picture

1.) Add Bookmark
  1. Click the 'Add Bookmark' link located in the right side menu. 
  2. Write a custom Title for the Bookmark
  3. Copy and paste the URL of the bookmark into the field labeled 'Location of Bookmarked Page'
  4. Include a description and tags for your bookmark
  5. Select 'Save' to create your bookmark

2.) Bookmarklet

You can quickly and easily save any page you visit by clicking the Bookmarklet button installed in your toolbar.

  1. Click the 'Bookmarklet' link located in the right side menu.
  2. Follow instructions on this page to install the Bookmarklet button in your toolbar



Animal Profile




What is an Animal profile?

What makes Ark Animal Space unique is that in addition to your member or organization profile, you can also create a sub-profile for each of your animals. Your animal's profile contains info about your animal such as Name, Age, Breed or Species, and Gender. You can upload pictures to your animal's photo gallery and also write a "Bio" to share your animal's story!

Other cool features of an Animal Profile include the ability to assign your animal to an Ark Animal Room, share the animal profile with another user's profile, and assign a parent to your animal if they too have boarded the Ark. An Animal Profile can be accessed via the Animal Widget on a user profile as well as the Ark Animal Rooms.


How do I create an Animal Profile?

To create an animal profile, click the "Create Animal Profile" link beneath your profile picture. You will be redirected to the edit animal profile page where you can add info about your animal via the fields below.

  • Name
  • Age
  • About Me
  • Animal Type
  • Breed or Species
  • Gender
  • Assign Mother (Enter Ark Number of Mother)
  • Assign Father (Enter Ark Number of Father)
  • Ark Animal Room
  • Share Ownership of Animal (Enter Ark Number of Shared Owner)

How do I edit the information in my an Animal Profile?







What are Animal Types?

The Animal Type helps group similar animals on the Ark which makes it easy for you to find a specific animal or for others to locate your animal. Your options are as described below.  
  • Canine: dog, wolf, etc.
  • Feline: cat, tiger, bobcat, etc.
  • Reptile: lizard, snake, aligator, etc.
  • Equine: horse
  • Bovine
  • Birds
  • Other


What is the My Babies widget?

Similar to how your animals appear in the 'Animal' widget' on your profile; the babies of your animal will appear in the 'My Babies' widget on their profile! You can assign a parent to your animal in the 'Edit Profile' section of your animal profile.


How do I assign an animal as a Mother or Father to my animal?

When creating or editing your animal profile, enter the 'Ark Number' of your animal's Mother or Father. The 'Ark Number' serves as a unique identifier for each member, organization and animal on the Ark and can be found below the profile photo. Once a Mother or Father is assigned, your animal will appear in the 'My Babies' widget on that parents profile.


How do I assign my animal to an Ark Animal Room?

We use the Ark Animal Rooms to categorize all animals on the Ark. When creating or editing your animal profile, select that best room that represents your animal from the drop down titled Ark Animal Room. Your options are as follows.
  • Adult Animals
  • Baby Animals    
  • Sick & Injured
  • Memorial Room

How do I transfer ownership of an animal to another profile?

When creating or editing your animal profile, enter the 'Ark Number' of the member or organization who ownership is being transferred. The 'Ark Number' serves as a unique identifier for each member, organization and animal on the Ark and can be found below the profile photo. Once ownership is transferred your animal will no longer appear in the 'Animals' widget on your profile.


How do I share ownership of an animal to another profile?

When creating or editing your animal profile, enter the 'Ark Number' of the member or organization who shares mutual ownership of your animal. The 'Ark Number' serves as a unique identifier for each member, organization and animal on the Ark and can be found below the profile photo. Once shared ownership is assigned, your animal will appear in the Animal Widget of both you and the shared users profile.



How do I assign my Animal to the Hall of Fame?

The Hall of Fame is the only room on the Ark where users are unable to assign their animal. This room Only the site Administrator can add an animal to the Hall of Fame so make sure to tell us exactly why your animal belongs!

How many animal profiles can I create?

There is a limit of 10 animal profiles per member account. If you have more than 10 animals in which you want to create profiles please email us at - admin@arkanimalspace.com - with "Request to Increase Animal Profile Limit" in the subject header.


My Photo Gallery in Animal Profile



What is the difference between Photos and My Photo Gallery?

All animal profiles have a My Photo Gallery link which directs users to that animals very own photo gallery. In difference from the Photos area on your profile; where you create a variety of Photo Albums, the My Photo Gallery offers the opportunity to focus on that specific animal with a 10 picture Photo Gallery.  


How do I access the My Photo Gallery on my animals profile?  

You can get to the My Photo Gallery from your animals profile. Just select the "My Photo Gallery" link located below your animal's profile picture



How do I add photos to my animal's Photo Gallery?

To add a new photo to your animals Photo Gallery..
  1. On your animals profile, select the "My Photo Gallery" link below your animal's profile picture
  2. In your animals photo gallery, select the 'Add New Photo' link located in the right side menu 
  3. Click 'choose a file' to upload a photo from your computer


How do edit, or delete
photos on my animal's Photo Gallery?

It's important to remember that you must have a photos already uploaded to the photo gallery before editing or deleting a photo.
  1. On your animals profile, select the "My Photo Gallery" link below your animal's profile picture
  2. In your animals photo gallery, select the photo you want to edit or delete
  3. When viewing the photo, select Edit Photo or Delete Photo from the right side menu


Ark Rooms


What are the Ark Rooms?

Whether an organization, member, or animal; every profile on the Ark can be found in their respective rooms. You can access these rooms from the main navigation above... and while browsing, if you come across a profile that peeks your interest, click on the name below the photo and you will be directed to that profile! 





Ark Blogs
 


What are the Ark Blogs?

The Ark Blog is the blog division of the Ark Animals brand and includes three separate blogs; Noah's Notes, Voice of the Veterinarian and the Admin Blog.

Chat Feature


Where is the Chat feature located? 

You can access our Chat feature by clicking 'Chat' text in the black bar located at the top left of the screen


Who can I Chat with?  

You can chat with other members and organizations on the Ark. You can see who is available to chat on the right side of the chat dialogue box. Also, we will periodically host chat sessions. These sessions will consist of admin hang outs, guest speakers, and other fun activities! An email and site wide notification will go out before when a chat session is scheduled.

Where do I change my settings?

You can access your settings by clicking the 'Settings' text in the black bar located at the top left of the screen



Account Settings

In the account settings you can...
  1. Edit Your Name
  2. Change your Password
  3. Update your Email Address



Twitter Integration

You can connect your @username on Twitter with your Ark Animal Space account to have your My Status Posts displayed in your Twitter time line.  Just click the 'authorize' link and select 'Save' to complete.



Account Statistics

You can see the details of your account along with the statistics of your activity on Ark Animal Space. Some of this activity includes the number of...

  • Posts to your Status Feed
  • Photos Uploaded
  • Animal Profiles Created
  • Messages Sent 

Notifications

In this area you can determine your Ark Animal Space interaction notification settings. You're given the option to choose to be notified via email, the website, or not to be notified at all.  




Privacy



Do you share my information?

We do not share or sell any of your information. 



How do I edit the privacy settings or
control what people see?

In the 'Edit Profile' section of your profile you will see drop downs with privacy options for each field. You can select from the options as listed below.
  • Private: No one will be able to view
  • Following: Only the members or organizations your following are able to view.
  • Logged in users: Only members or organizations logged into Ark Animal Space are able to view.
  • Public: Anyone with or without an account at Ark Animal Space can view.
  • Following Collection: Set the view restrictions to certain following collections created.
